Summer / Autumn Transition Playlist

Just thought I'd share with you a few songs for this changing summer -> Autumn weather. While it's still pretty warm, September seems well on its way in and I'm really looking forward to the leaves falling from the trees. Autumn might be my second favourite season - bar winter - because my body just can't seem to handle really warm weather (even in England!).

Read more about these choices...

  • Train - Drops of Jupiter - This song might be up there in my all-time favourites. Beautiful lyrics, including some similes / metaphors that invite each listener to dig just a little deeper.
  • WINNER - Color Ring - Such a chilled-out song, perfect for an evening reading. After watching the guys from WINNER battle it out in various 'survival' programmes, their debut certainly didn't disappoint. Fans of this should also check out the other half to their 'double single' release - Empty. Two songs that will, no doubt, also make the transition from autumn to winter.
  • The 1975 - Robbers - After watching The 1975 perform in a pretty small venue sometime late last year, (at which time I only knew one song 'Chocolate'), and checking out the rest of their first album as a result, Robbers is one of my favourites. Slow-paced, calm and appropriately 'deep' sounding, it's certainly a good accompaniment to any night you're feeling more thoughtful. It's great to see their fanbase growing steadily.
  • The Arctic Monkeys - Arabella - Autumn always seems like an 'Indie' sort of season. Imagine this playing at a festival, leaves falling around and that reddish sunset casting a shadow over the stage.
  • MAGIC! - Rude -  Possibly better suited for the 'Summer' section of this spectrum, this song is instantly catchy and has a refreshing 'reggae-fusion' vibe that I'd imagine dancing along to in the car on a roadtrip somewhere one day.
  • BTS - Danger - K-Pop often has the tendency to change styles according to season with precision. From Busker Busker's 'Cherry Blossom Ending' over to SISTAR's 'Loving U', and now through songs like 'Danger'. BTS came back with a bang, and this rock-infused offering certainly didn't disappoint. The rough-sounding chorus gives an edge to the song that certainly fits well with the change from bright summer to a less-forgiving autumn.
They're a pretty random / small bunch, but I hope these get you in the mood for warm mugs of tea, colder evenings and layering clothes again (Finally!).
