Strangely enough(!) this will be my first Valentines in a relationship.
Despite recognising the clearly money-centric nature of this 'holiday',
there are a few good finds on the highstreet at the minute. Who says
Valentines needs to be spent staring longingly into a half-finished tub
of Ben & Jerry's watching that re-run of Bridget Jones? Here
are a few ideas that are sure to make Valentines 2016 a good one no
matter the circumstances, so get your pen and paper ready to note these
options, whether with a SO or as an opener to the perfect
anti-Valentines!
1. Night In Accessories -
So we know the drill, you're inherently angered by the entire commercial aspect of Valentines. You see it as the bane of your relationship experience, an unnecessary reason to spend money. I mean, you should love your SO every day of the year, right?
Right. Buut it's always great to have those days when you're chilling on the sofa, making / eating good food and just generally taking in the whole romantic atmosphere. Here are some gifts that will keep on giving the whole year-round (which will also be great for that Anti-Valentines night in with your girl-friends!)
These are SUCH a cute idea, for decorating before your night in / party. You can customise each balloon to your tastes, and the ribbons give these a more up-market feel than your usual poundland option.
Another really interesting take on the Valentines night in, this gift will give you another insight into yourself and your SO. The option of completing each page either with one person or a group of friends also makes this Anti-Valentines friendly, and will be sure to entertain as the night goes on!
2. Night Out Look -
Maybe you've completely fallen for Valentines Day hook, line and sinker. You're heading out on the town, either for a romantic meal or to search for your own Mr Right. There are so many options available for this look, here are some of my favourite pieces on the highstreet right now!
The LBD - Black Cross Strap Skater - New Look
It's been said again and again, but nothing can beat a LBD if you want to look pulled together and chic for a night out. This dress is a bit more on the dressed-up side, but it could look just as amazing with a pair of flats. New Look also stock a similar, perhaps more Valentines-appropriate, red option if you feel more daring and want to go for a sultry look!

Premium Lace Bodycon Dress - Topshop
The more colourful, and perhaps more daring, option, this dress is totally on trend with its lace and cut-out detailing. It's a flattering cut, and not too short, balancing out the skin on show really well.
Lace-up pointed heels - New Look
I think these are an amazing find, and at a great price! I've been lusting after this lace-up style shoe for a long while, and these tick every box! At £29.99, I think these are a good, pretty economical alternative to some similar styles elsewhere, and I always find New Look heels to be pretty comfortable!

I must admit, I haven't been looking in RI too often for clothes recently, but this find has got me interested! Both chic and a bit different with its silver edging and patchwork giving it more depth, this bag will be big enough to carry the essentials while staying simple.
3. Anti-Valentines / Night In Look -
On the other end of the spectrum, if you're getting ready for that night in, here are some comfy options that still fit that Valentines (or anti-) feeling.
If you're going for a more chilled-out night in with friends, this T-shirt is a quirky, comic option that fits perfectly with the anti-valentines vibe. Paired with jeans or pajama bottoms, and at £7, how can you go wrong?!
These would be the perfect addition to any sleepover or night in. While not glaringly Valentines related, the red heart detailing and its cute message is sure to ward off any less-than-likely admirers this February!
So that's it for now, as always I'll come back and add to this when I find more interesting Valentines-themed things! Hope you all enjoy the holiday however you plan to spend it!
What's been your best or worst Valentines so far?
